Duck Valley, NV

I really monopolized what we did last weekend, that is for sure. On Saturday Willy and I attended a 6 hour fly fishing class at Cabela's. The first 3 hours where in a class room and the instructor went over the equipment, fly types and where to look for fish. He recommended as a general rule to start with water. :) After lunch, we went to a grassy field where we practiced casting. The instructors were so good that they could hit each other in the butt almost 40 feet away! Willy is a natural (of course) and I think he was glad that he went.

Willy's friend from work, Bill, hunted us down at Cabela's and invited us to go fishing with him at the Duck Valley Indian Reservation in Nevada on Sunday. We said, "what the heck and why not" and before we knew it, it was 3:30am and by 4am we were on our way to pick up Bill who was waiting patiently in his driveway. We arrived at the lake at about 6:30am! The fishing was quite at first but then the guys started catching lots of fish. I mainly stayed with my fly rod because I wanted to practice a lot with it. 3 hours later, I finally got my first bite and I was so surprised that I basically dropped my rod! You'll always remember the ones that got away!

Willy and Bill manned the 5 normal rods and Willy really impressed me because he was able to bring in a lot of fish. One of the rainbow trouts that he landed was 22 inches long and just under 4lbs! Clayton, the Indian guy checking the licenses said that that was the biggest fish caught on the whole lake that day!

We came home with 10 wild rainbow trout. What we don't eat, we are going to have smoked. They are so pretty and pink inside! Thanks again for everything Bill!
