17 mile hilly road bike ride...

Well to work off the Thanksgiving I decided I would go on a road bike ride. There is a 17 mile loop that is one of the harder ones around going from our house on Hill Rd to Seaman's Gulch to Dry Creek to Cartwright to Bogus Basin to home. It is very hilly, especially for an out of shape feller like me. It took about 1.75 hours and I had to walk up the top of two hills on Cartwright because I was spent. I rode Kitty's old blue bike. My excuse was that it wasn't geared for hills it is a Florida bike. I may find a new sprocket or just suck it up. The brakes don't really work even with the new pads I put on so once I got to the top of the small mountains I would put the shades on and hold on for dear life. I must have been doing 45 mph or something. Kinda scary with old dry-rotted tires and no brakes. I found out that if I look any further than about 5 ft in front of me on the road it was super hard to make it to the top of these long hills. Just keep chugging. I hope to do this more and get into good shape.

I rode 12 miles at Alafia on Sunday and thought I was going to die. 17 miles in Idaho is quite impressive.
